The weather today here is overcast so I thought we would feature the collection Walk in the Park from Maywood Studios. This collection is inspired by 1930s fabrics and looks great made up.

Kit Cutting Time For the Retreat

Today is kit cutting time for our workshops which are part of our Quilting in the Highlands Retreat. These are just some of the beautiful fabrics that we have to cut up as part of Rachelle Denneny's Workshop: Turned Edge Applique by Machine.

This workshop is based on Rachelle's award winning quilt Royal Amethyst and the students will be learning Rachelle's technique of turned edge applique by machine to create a bed scarf/table runner. The students have a choice of two different colour ways - Royal Amethyst and Royal Sapphire. Plus the kit is part of the workshop and you get to use these amazing shot cottons from Reece Scannell and Maywood Studio Shadow Play Fabrics!

International Quilt Market Part 2

Animals this year featured on many of the different stands throughout the Quilt Market.

 Fabri-Quilt had a "farm" feel to their stand with chickens, pigs, a horse and a cow, made out of fabric of course!

Anna Marie Horner's stand had several animal featuring her new collection Field Study for Westminister/Rowan Fabrics. I love the cut outs of the different butterflies featuring the fabrics in her new collection.

Animals on quilts did also feature. This is a quilt made by Maywood Studio's using their Woolies Flannel Range.

And of course animals featured on fabric. Adorn It has a very cute new collection of Owl fabric coming out soon.

 Not to be upstaged, Michael Miller Fabrics who always has a fantastic stand with a theme, had 3 large elephants and two lions.......

Free Pattern from Maywood Studio

This is a free pattern that is available from Maywood Studios. I love stars in quilts and this is a stunner. It would look great in a selection of fabrics and perhaps could be a new quilt for you to start in 2012.
