A new delivery of fairy fabric has just arrived in store.It is called Fairy Briar. 

 

This beautifully painted collection combines two ongoing trends: Nostalgic themes in prints (particularly for children) and soft botanical designs with French Flair. The fairies have a hand-drawn look (the art was painted in watercolour) that will appeal to all ages. Art Nouveau design aesthetic and gold metallic outlines make the sweet look sophisticated. Just had a new delivery of Kaffe Fassett fabrics into the store today, the shelves are overflowing! There are some fantastic new fabrics in these collections. We have fabrics from all the three designers Kaffe Fassett, Brandon Mably and Phillip Jacobs who design under these collections. New Fabric in Store - Touch of Spice

Touch of Spice is the latest new arrival into the shop by Fabric Freedom.

Each fabric in the range is embellished with metallic gold. The designs and colour ways in this group can all be used together, as the same colour theme runs through all sixteen skus, which can be used all together to create a wonderful vibrant quilt. The colour of hot paprika and chilli in lighter and darker tones, sits alongside ground ginger, cumin and peppery browns. The 5 designs go from pale cream, blue and peach, through mid tones of colour and shade, to rich dark hues. A variety of images, all shimmering with metallic gold, give this range a cool exotic feeling and add depth and variety to the range, which despite its contrasts of grasses, flowers, patterns and even birds, work beautifully together.

Touch of Spice is $22 per meter.

New Fabric in Store: Christmas Fabric

Yes I know that it is only March but we have just had a new shipment of Christmas Fabric arrive in the shop. We stock Christmas Fabrics all year round and have a large selection, so this gives you plenty of time to get those Christmas goods made in time (if you are organised unlike myself who leaves everything till last minute).
There is a select of new Christmas fabrics, and I just love the little stockings - will need to think up a project to use them. These fabrics would be great if you also make fabric cards or use the fabric for scrap booking.
There are some very cute fabrics with little birds carrying letters and mini Christmas puddings which are due in soon.

Do you have what it takes to be a fabric designer?

Michael Miller Fabrics has partnered with Spoonflower.com to create Project Selvage, a competition to find the company's next licensed designer. If I could draw I would enter alas I can't so I'll leave it up to those who have that talent. Some of you will already know about Spoonflower - it is a site that you submit your designs and they will print it onto fabric for you, I have always been tempted to try it out but haven't gotten around to do it. According to the submission guidelines - The design theme for the initial round of submissions is baby fabric for boys. Michael Miller Fabrics and Spoonflower will pick the top 75 Semi-Finalists. The Semi-Finalists will be posted at Spoonflower.com for fans to vote.  Designs that get the top 10 votes will move to final round and design a collection of 6 designs. The top 10 collections will be posted on Spoonflower.com for the public to vote at Spoonflower.com.  The collection that gets the most votes will win!! And their collections (It will be both a boy and girl collection) will be debuted at International Quilt Market - Fall 2011. How exciting. Entres must be in by the 24th March.

On the 15th January we will be holding our airing of the quilts and annual sale. This is a fantastic day to see a display of our teachers’ class projects for 2011 – an opportunity for you to see the fabulous quilts they will be teaching. We will also be accepting bookings for those classes not already filled. Additionally there will be a display of our students’ and local quilters’ works. Also on the 15th January we are holding a sale on ALL fabrics (this includes all pre-cut fat quarters, fabric bundles and rolls) – 25% off for stash club members and 20% non members and 15% all patterns, and books for Stash Club Members, 10% off all Books and Patterns for Non Members. Please note you need to have been a signed up member to the Stash Club prior to the 10th of January to have the full discount of 25% and 15%.
