Age of Elegance is the latest in new fabric collections to arrive at Berrima Patchwork.

Age of Elegance is a range of designs inspired by the work of Alphonse Mucha. Born in Bohemia in 1860 his most influential work was created in Paris, where he lived for 20 years at the turn of the 19th century and an inspiring place to be at the fin-de-siècle. Today Alphonse Mucha is recognised for bridging the gap between high art and the commercial world. He was extremely versatile and produced posters, silverware and jewellery, as well as wallpapers and borders. Mucha’s designs incorporating the decorative Art Nouveau woman have become synonymous with this style, as he glamorized and feminized the female form. He often used Eastern forms and symbols and used a very sophisticated interpretation of colour and decoration based on natural forms, to create his very unique decorative Art Nouveau style.

The latest fabric collection as part of the Culture Club has arrived in store. It is The Dutch Cottage designed by Leesa Chandler. The fabrics in this collection were inspired by Delftware China, Dutch costumes and tiles.

New Fabric in Store: Autumn Plume

The very popular fabric collection Plume has just been released in an Autumn colour way.

The original Plume featured a blue/turquoise colourway with a black background and was well received by our customers and this new collection will surely not disappoint. The fabric's main feature is  this elegant peacock with a striking color palette of brown, grey, black and metallic gold. There are several coordinating pieces including a border print available in store.

Jan made this beautiful quilt using the first colour way collection of Plume. The pattern she used is Leesa Chandler's Southern Jewel Pattern with the addition of borders.

Elvis has entered the building!

I never thought I would be writing a blog about Elvis Presley but as some say never say never.
This is a new collection of fabric: Elvis on Tour. It has arrive in the shop and we have already sold out of a couple of these fabrics! 
 

When we were shown it by our reps from the fabric company I was definitely out voted on getting this fabric into the shop (you need to know I'm of the Nickelback, Coldplay, U2 generation.)
So here it is. We only have 9 of the fabrics left in stock. They are from Elvis' 1970 tour.The stud and dragon patterns are lifted straight from the King's iconic jumpsuit!

  

 

So if you are lonesome tonight there is no excuse as you should be snuggled under a quilt made out of this fabric.

New Batiks Fabrics in Store

Lots of new Batik fabrics have arrived in store.

The intricate designs and lush colors of Hoffman's Handpaints and Batiks are so detailed, it's difficult to imagine that every yard is produced by hand and yet that's just what happens at the Hoffman facilities in Bali.

These fabrics are either batiked or painted with dye or undergo a combination of methods.

Some new fabric has just arrived into the shop. It's called Get Together from David Walker Studios.




It is just SOOOOOO Cute, I can't decide which of the fabrics I like better. This is a great collection for kids which features squirrels, birds and pigs. The range goes together well and you can either mix the two different colourways or keep them separate.
