Constantinople Quilt Display This Saturday

Berrima Patchwork is excited to presenting all these projects from the book: Constantinople Quilts to be on display this day.
This is the only guaranteed opportunity to see ALL the projects from the book. Constantinople Quilts is the first book created by Tamsin Harvey for C&T Publishing. Tamsin will be on hand to sign copies of the book and to talk about the process of creating the projects, their inspiration and her trip to Turkey to photograph the projects and tiles.
This book features 8 different quilting projects which are inspired by Iznik Turkish Tiles from the Ottoman Empire. This book is unique as it includes photos tiles and ceramics that inspired these designs. In March last year Tamsin travelled to Istanbul to photograph the tiles and all the projects in the amazing historic setting of the "Old City" including the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia Museum and the Rüstem Pasha Mosque.

Constantinople Quilts Special Event

Constantinople Quilts is the first book that Tamsin has written for C&T Publishing. It has had a delayed release date due to strike action on the West Coast Ports (in the USA). The books have now arrived at C&T in the US and were shipped out to us on Friday. The books we anticipate will arrive within the next 2 weeks. As soon as they arrive those of you who have pre-ordered the book will have them shipped to you.

The Book: Constantinople Quilts includes 8 different projects which are raw edge appliqued. Throughout the book there are photos of the tiles and ceramics that inspired these designs. Master Class with Sandra Leichner 4 Day Workshop
This Master Class is the second that we have run at Berrima Patchwork and is open to only those who have previously attended a workshop with Sandra. Sandra is a top internationally awarded and  recognized Master Applique Artist and is known for her masterpiece quilts that  showcase her unique illustrative approach with hand appliqué and hand embellishment techniques. During the Master Class you can work on any pattern created by Sandra. This is a great opportunity to take advantage of finishing or starting one of her new patterns. Sandra will be demonstrating new techniques during the class including breaking down complex patterns with multi-layered backgrounds, working with layered needleturn appliqué, basic hand embroidery embellishment techniques and understanding colour and value and how it can enhance the overall appearance of hand appliqué and much more. Sandra Leichner - Best of Show Winner

So excited that I can share this with you all. We are very happy to announce that one of our teachers - Sandra Leichner has been award BEST OF SHOW at Road to California with her wholecloth quilt "Vivaldi by Moonlight" This is an amazing quilt and one you really have to see in real life and up close to see all the detail that Sandra has put into this quilt. I was fortunate to see it at Houston last year and this is the photo I took of Sandra with it. So excited that I can share this with you all. Berrima GaolBreak

Have you heard about the Berrima GaolBreak??????

For the first time you will be able to view the inside of this gaol over the Australia Day weekend (and be allowed to leave!). The Gaol was operational between 1839 and 2011 and is located right in the center of town. There are events planned throughtout the days and evening events planned on the Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are required to visit, and can be pre-purchased as there are limited numbers available. The Monday 26th January (Australia Day) will also be a busy day for the town as there are markets stalls in the park, a parade and entertainment throughout the day.

Constantinople Quilts

Earlier this year we announced that Tamsin had been signed up as a new author for the USA company C&T Publishing. We can now reveal the front cover of the book.

It is called Constantinople Quilts and will be released next April. The quilts are due to be returned back next week and if you come into the store over the next few months you might even get a sneak peek at some of the projects.
