International Spring Market - Salt Lake City

Today the International Spring Quilt Market started here in Salt Lake City. This is a trade only even and always occurs in the May. This show doesn't have a permanent city in which it occurs so every year it moves, last year it was Minneapolis, next year Kanas City. The day before the show starts there is an event called Schoolhouse lectures. This is a full day of 30 minutes lectures. You have the opportunity to learn more about new products, innovation, how to run a better business and so on. During each of the 30 minutes time slots you can choose between several different lectures. It is always a great day to learn, pick up ideas and to create a list of must see/must get into the shop.
Here are some photos from the day.
Leesa Chandler from Chandlers Cottage in Victoria was launching her new Culture Club with Robert Kaufman Fabrics- all very exciting and looks really good. More details to come!

In the evening the day before the show is Sample Spree. This year there was only one line into the room. It was one very very very very long line. The photos below only show about a quarter of the line, I didn't bother going to see where the end of it was, I just waiting until it went down and then joined the end. I did pick up some goodies for the shop and to add some to my stash (I hope mum doesn't read this otherwise I will be in trouble!)

The show did start today, and this morning I took a class with Eleanor Burns of Quilt in a Day Fame. It was a fun class, no pressure which I like. We were using one of Eleanor's patterns and a charm square pack to make a small table runner. The pattern has set in seams which were really easy. The bottom photo is a picture of a quilt using the same method - just more fabric.

I didn't take many photos inside the show today, just this one of one of the reps from Michael Miller fabric. They always set a theme for their stand which links up with a new fabric range. I don't know what the range is but it looks like they are going to have a fun show.
